    • The   Confucius Institute at the University of Maryland was founded in   November, 2004 and is the first one in USA, the longest in the world.

    • The   Confucius Institute at Aichi University was established in February,   2006. It’s one of the earliest ones in Japanese 12 Confucius Institutes.

    • The Confucius Institute at the University of Minho was established in 2006 and is the first one in Portugal.

    • The   Confucius Institute at the University of Los Andes was founded in   November, 2017 in Bogota, Colombia. It is the first one in South   America.

    • Base   of Research and Training on Intercultural Communication of Nankai   University, founded in April 2009, is one of the Bases for International   Promotion of Chinese Language sponsored by Hanban / Confucius   Institutes Headquarters.

    • The Confucius Institute at Jeju Halla University was launched in April, 2009. It is the only one in Jeju Island.

    • The 1st Nankai University Confucius Institutes conference was held in Beijing in December, 2009.

    • The 2nd Nankai University Confucius Institutes conference was held in Beijing in December, 2010.

    • Chancellor Xue Jinwen won the Special Contribution Award of Maryland State for his contribution to Chinese language promotion.

    • The   Confucius Institute at the University of Glasgow was opened in October,   2011. It’s the second one in the whole Scotland area.

    • The   Confucius Institute Day was held at the University of Glasgow in   October 2011. On the same day, the lecture and exhibition of Mr. Fan   Zeng was hosted as well.

    • The 3rd Nankai University Confucius Institutes conference was held in Beijing in December, 2011.

    • The   Office for Confucius Institutes Affairs was set up in December, 2011,   to manage and coordinate the work of Confucius Institutes overseas.

    • The   Confucius Institute work meeting was held in June, 2012. Chancellor XUE   Jinwen and President GONG Ke attended the meeting and further explained   the importance of Confucius Institute work.

    • Nankai University was awarded by the Confucius Institute Headquarter as an “Advanced Chinese Partner University” on the 7th Global Confucius Institute Conference in December, 2012.

    • The 4th Nankai University Confucius Institutes conference was held in Beijing in December, 2012.

    • Chancellor Xue Jinwen was awarded the “Person of Year of Confucius Institutes” on the 8th Global Confucius Institute Conference in December, 2013.

    • The 5th Nankai University Confucius Institutes conference was held in Beijing in December, 2013.

    • The   Neoma Confucius Institute for Business was founded in March, 2014 in   Rouen, France. It is the first Confucius Institute for business in   France.

    • The 10th Anniversary Joint Meeting of the Seven Nankai University Confucius Institutes and the Photo Exhibition for the 10th Anniversary of Confucius Institutes were held at Nankai University in September, 2014.

    • The 6th Nankai University Confucius Institutes conference was held at the University of Maryland, US in October, 2014.

    • The   agreement on co-establishing a new Confucius Institute by Nankai   University and Yeditepe University, Turkey was signed in July, 2015.
