Birmingham-Nankai Joint Research Institute


 


On January 15, 2018, Nankai University and the University of Birmingham signed the Cooperation Agreement of the Joint Research Institute on Green Economy and Sustainable Development between the two universities. Birmingham-Nankai Joint Research Institute is a new starting point and new opportunity to deepen strategic cooperation in scientific research based on more than 20 years of cooperation between the two universities. Through the substantive scientific research cooperation of two world-renowned universities, the Joint Research Institute will use diversified and multi-perspective social scientific methods to solve major issues of human concern, such as the global environment, energy, and ecology.


On July 1, 2019, the Birmingham-Nankai Joint Research Institute was inaugurated in Tianjin, China. Five research centers, that is, the Research Center for Green Economy, Research Center for Biomedicine, Research Center for Mathematics and Big Data, Research Center for Environmental Science and Research Center for Social and Public Health are the foundation and platform of the Nankai University-University of Birmingham Joint Research Institute. The Joint Research Institute will carry out cooperation in joint scientific research projects, hold seminars of joint scientific research, and carry out doctoral 3+12+2 joint training, exchange visits of young teachers, masters 1+12+1 or undergraduates and graduate students 3+1+1 joint training, etc.
