On July 11, 2025 SCO Digital Economy Forum—Theme Forum of University Cooperation was held at Tiankai Higher Education Innovation Park. the SCO Digital Economy University Alliance, initiated by Nankai University and with participation from Chinese universities and counterparts from SCO member states, was officially established.

On June 26, the Nankai University-University of Glasgow Joint Graduate School held its 2025 commencement ceremony and degree conferral ceremony on Jinnan Campus.

Recently, a research team led by Professor Duan Feng of Nankai University has successfully completed the world’s first clinical trial using an interventional brain-computer interface (BCI) to assist in the motor function restoration in a paralyzed limb. The breakthrough enabled a hemiplegic patient to regain mobility in the affected limb.

Joshua Zahl, a mathematician widely known for his groundbreaking proof of the three-dimensional Kakeya conjecture, has been appointed as a Chair Professor at the Chern Institute of Mathematics at Nankai University.Prof.Zahl completed his Ph.D. in 2013 at the University of California, Los Angeles, under the mentorship of Terence Tao. His research centers on harmonic analysis and combinatorics, with particular interests in the Kakeya conjecture, sum-product problems, and the Erdős distance problem
