My Story

I'm very grateful to Nankai University for providing a platform so that we can go abroad for exchange study, which gave me a chance to study in St Petersburg State University, Russia from February to June in 2018. Even though two years have passed since the exchange study, I still feel touched and happy when it comes to my mind.

Saint Petersburg, a city by the side of Gulf of Finland with combination of Russian and Western culture, is full of sea breeze of Baltic Sea all the time. The Neva River goes through the city, where the building all stands neatly. It could never be too much to call such a beautiful scenery the "Paradise on Earth". Saint Petersburg is at high latitudes, which means there is only two hours at night in Summer. Therefore, at that time, we always went out of the dormitory after 10:00 pm. While wandering on the Neva Street and looking at the roof of buildings, which would become red because of the sunset in the early morning, I usually felt that the beauty on earth was nothing but that, especially when they merged into each other. One can feel the air of Romanov Dynasty everywhere in Saint Petersburg. We also took the opportunity to visit all kinds of famous museums.

It was another wonderful fortune that we could deeply experience the power of history and culture, see the real masterpieces of art and literature giants with our own eyes during the period as an exchange student, including Leonardo da Vinci and Raffaello Santi. As a student majoring in foreign languages, it touched me the most that the pictures in the textbook came into my eyes one by one, not to mention that we were also lucky to experience the grand Russian presidential election and the 21st FIFA World Cup in that Spring and Summer.

I always feel that the time went too fast while recalling days in Saint Petersburg. Going abroad and embracing the world would always teach us many things. We should thank Naikai University for providing us such a nice opportunity. And I sincerely hope that this kind of love and affection could be passed on forever.
