Rao Zihe


Rao Zihe, the molecular biophysicist and structural biologist, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and the World Academy of Sciences, Deputy to the National People's Congress of the people's Republic of China, Member of Standing Committee of China Association for Science and Technology, President of Biophysical Society of China, Executive Director of Administrative Committee of International Union for Pure and Applied Biophysics. He is mainly engaged in the research of the structure and function of protein relevant to serious virus and tumor as well as the research of innovative medicine, where he had made a series of significant and original achievement. He also has made outstanding contributions to the research of three-dimensional structure and functions in terms of SARS coronavirus, AIV and membrane protein. Moreover, he has published 218 research papers on international academic journals, including 13 series of papers on Nature (3 papers) and Cell (2 papers), which had been cited for more than 2000 times, and applied for and obtained 6 patents. As for awards, he won the Qiu Shi Outstanding Young Scholar Prize in 1999; Science and Technology Progress Award of the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation in 2003; Tan Kah Kee Science Award in 2006; Trieste Science Prize, the highest award of World Academy of Sciences, in 2006; (first) C.C. Tan Life Science Awards in 2008 and so on.
