Honor System of Students with dedication to public interests and acquisition of all-round capability

Guided by the Implementation Guidelines of Quality-oriented Education in Nankai University, the Honor System of Students in Nankai University accommodates the requirements of quality-oriented education with dedication to public interests and acquisition of all-round capability, conforms to the law of student personality development and growth, and adapts to the features of different levels and types of education, so as to effectively play the role of motivation and guidance of evaluation.

- Scholarships:

I. Government Scholarships

(I) National Scholarship

It is designed to reward students in their second college year or higher who have excellent academic performance, high quality of dedication to public interests and acquisition of all-round capability, with an award rate of RMB 8,000 per person per year and an award ratio of about 2% (the specific quota is based on the higher authority documents of the year). 

(II) Tianjin Government Scholarship

It is designed to reward students in their second college year or higher who have excellent academic performance, high quality of dedication to public interests and acquisition of all-round capability, with an award rate of RMB 8,000 per person per year and an award ratio of about 0.5% (the specific quota is based on the higher authority documents of the year). 

(III) National Encouragement scholarship

It is designed to reward students in their second college year or higher who are excellent in character and learning from a family that has financial difficulties, with an award rate of RMB 5,000 per person per year and an award ratio of about 4.6% (the specific quota is based on the higher authority documents of the year).  

II. School-level Scholarships

Scholarships of Nankai University, including Merit Scholarship and special scholarships, are funded and established by Nankai University and social donations. Merit Scholarship is designed to reward merit-based students with all-round development in morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics and labor. Special Scholarships are designed to reward students with extremely outstanding performance in a certain aspect such as academic performance, scientific research, public welfare and volunteering, culture and sports, as well as excellent students who are voluntary for military service, and service in the west part and grass-roots unit of China.

(I) Merit Scholarship

1.  Zhou Enlai Scholarship

Zhou Enlai Scholarship is the highest honor for undergraduates in Nankai University, which is designed to reward students with outstanding overall performance in various aspects, with an award rate of RMB 10,000 per person per year and 10 winners.

2.  Scholarship of Public Interests and All-Round Capability

It is designed to reward students with outstanding performance in professional study, scientific research and innovation, public welfare and volunteering, campus activities, social work, arts, sports and other aspects, with an award rate of RMB 5,000 per person per year and an award ratio of 5%.

(II) Special Scholarships

1.  Scholarship of Academic Excellence

It is designed to reward students with academic excellence, with an award rate of RMB 2,000 per person per year and an award ratio of 6%.

2.  Innovation Scholarship

It is designed to encourage students to actively participate in scientific research, professional competitions and entrepreneurial practice activities, and to enhance their innovation ability, with an award rate of RMB 2,000 per person per year and an award ratio of 3%.

3.  Scholarship of Academic Progress

It is designed to encourage students to study hard, with an award rate of RMB 2,000 per person per year and an award ratio of up to 2%.

4.  Scholarship of Social Welfare

It is designed to encourage students to be grateful, to contribute to the society, and to actively participate in voluntary activities for the public welfare, with an award rate of RMB 2,000 per person per year and an award ratio of 2%.

5.  Scholarship of Student Service

It is designed to encourage students to embrace responsibility with passion, to be dedicated, and to be enthusiastic to serve the majority of students, with an award rate of RMB 2,000 per person per year and an award ratio of 2%.

6.  Scholarship for Culture and Physical Performance

It is designed to encourage students to carry out cultural and sports exercises, and to actively participate in cultural and sports activities, with an award rate of RMB 2,000 per person per year and an award ratio of 2%. 

7.  Scholarship for Volunteering for Military Service

It is designed to encourage students to volunteer for military service and devote themselves to national defense, with an award rate of RMB 8,000 per person per year.

8.  Scholarship for Volunteer Service in the West Part and Grass-roots Unit of China

It is designed to encourage undergraduates to volunteer for service in the West Part and Grass-roots Unit in the remote areas of China, with an award rate of RMB 3,000-5,000 per person.

- Title of Honor:

1.  Class of Zhou Enlai

The Class of Zhou Enlai is the highest honor bestowed by Nankai University for a collective of undergraduate classes by awarding the elected class the honorary title of Class of Zhou Enlai and issuing a certificate of honor and a medal with the inscription of the title of Class of Zhou Enlai.

2.  Honorary Title of Advanced Collective

Nankai University appraises and elects 10 advanced classes every year to honor collectives with outstanding performance in development and success of class members, class style construction and other aspects.

3.  Outstanding Organization

Nankai University appraises and elects 10 outstanding student organizations every year to honor student organizations that actively promote the core values of socialism and fine traditional Chinese culture with outstanding performance in campus culture construction.

4.  Outstanding Dormitory

Nankai University appraises and elects 10% of the total number of undergraduate dormitories as outstanding dormitories each year to commend dormitories of solidarity and friendship, mutual respect, mutual assistance, harmonious relationship and excellent performance.

5.  Person of the Year

Nankai University appraises and elects up to 10 persons as the Person of the Year each year to commend advanced student models, and to actively create a strong atmosphere of virtue and goodness as well as emulation to wise and good person on campus,

with an one-time award rate of RMB 5,000.

6.  Outstanding Graduate

It is designed to commend graduates with excellent performance in morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics and labor, or with particularly outstanding performance in a certain aspect such as academic research, innovation and entrepreneurship, volunteer service, social work, culture and sports, with an award ratio of up to 3% of the total number of undergraduate graduates.
