Nankai University Makes Two Disciplinary Breakthrough According to ESI Database

According to Nankai University Library’s statistics, the latest updated data of the ESI database on March 12 shows that Nankai University has made new breakthroughs in the disciplines of Materials Science and Computer Science. Materials Science ranks 94th out of the 941 institutions on the list, entering the top 1 ‰ of ESI for the first time. Computer science was newly added to the list, becoming Nankai University’s 13th discipline that ranks in the top 1% of the world.

Currently, Nankai University’s disciplines that enter 1% in ESI are: Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics, Environmental Science and Ecology, Biology and Biochemistry, Engineering, Molecular Biology and Genetics, Clinical Medicine, Mathematics, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Agricultural Sciences, Computer Science, Botany and Zoology.Among them, Chemistry and Materials Science entered the top 1 ‰ of ESI worldwide.

The data show that Nankai University ranked 371 in the world. It has 26,125 published articles, 547 highly cited papers, 20 hot papers, and each of which was cited 17.89 times on average.

ESI is one of the most important indicators commonly used today to evaluate the international academic level and influence of universities and research institutions. Entering ESI means entering the top 1% of global universities and research institutions in various fields of ESI, and entering the top 1 ‰ is usually considered to have a world-class disciplinary strength.

The updated data covers the period from January 1, 2009 to December 31, 2019.
