Recently, Nankai University held the “Heart with Nankai, Lighting up the World” 2020 Graduation Event Series for overseas graduates who stay at the campus. 17 representatives of graduates participated at the events.
The series is composed of three parts: “Recalling Nankai”, “Rediscovering Tianjin” and “Love for China”
In the event “Recalling Nankai”, graduates interpreted the youth’s responsibilities and public-oriented abilities through several activities of Chinese traditional culture, including calligraphy, Chinese chess, traditional Chinese painting and so on. Through the series of activities delicately designed, they recalled their study and life at Nankai, from their first meeting, mutual recognition to the final farewell. They learned Nankai’s motto again, determined to shoulder the international young people’s responsibility of lighting up the world, and perceived the deep connotation of the community of shared future in the cooperation with other students from other countries and regions.
In the event of “Rediscovering Tianjin”, graduates went to visit Jizhou karst cave and Huangyaguan Great Wall and said goodbye to China in the lucid waters and lush mountains of Tianjin. When they visited the world cultural heritage Huangyaguan Great Wall, they listened to its history and encouraged and helped each other during the trip. Embraced by lucid waters and lush mountains, graduates had their “last class” of how to tell stories of China.
In the event of “Love for China”, graduates prepared a special “graduation party”. They celebrated their graduation with their talents and skills. Minasyan Anush, Bakary Salawath and other students showed what they learned in China and sang the song “Invisible Wings” to encourage their classmates to keep going bravely in the future and the song “Friends” to say farewell to their friends. IFEMBIRI EUCHARIA NKECHINYERE,NOUEKATCHE NESLYNE CLAUDIA and other students gave an amazing performance of African dance. MACHAIRAS VASILEIOS EMMANOUIL sang an English children’s rhyme in a special way, arousing an intense atmosphere.
At last, Yingxi Ou, Vice Director of the Office for International Academic Exchanges shared a graduation message and gave alumni souvenirs to the graduates. He hoped that no matter where they go after graduation, they will actively spread Chinese culture, become envoys of friendly exchanges between China and other countries and tell good stories of China.
Hasan Tonni (Bangladesh), master graduate of International Affairs and Public Policy from the Zhou Enlai’s School of Government, said, “At this special moment, it's great to be able to participate in this unforgettable commemorative activity and spend such a wonderful time with you. Thank you for your hard work. Congratulations to all my friends, happy graduation! You're all great!”
Minasyan Anush (Armenia), master graduate of Chinese International Education from the College of Chinese Language and Culture, said, “I'm really happy to participate in this activity. It gives me more beautiful memories.”
The event series was sponsored by Nankai University’s Office for International Academic Exchanges in order to guide students to recall their life and study at Nankai, understand Nankai’s motto “dedication to public interests, acquisition of all-round capability, and aspiration for progress with each passing day”. By visiting the natural scenery, graduates are able to understand China’s value of sustainable development of seeing lucid waters and lush mountains as invaluable assets. The event series is the last class for graduates before they leave China, aiming to strengthen the sense of responsibility of overseas students to “light up the world” and the mission and responsibility of telling Chinese stories and spreading the voice of China.
