Recently, to support the development of education, Wu Wang, 1992 alumnus of the Taiwan Institute of Economics (School of Economics), and Wei Li, 1984 alumnus of the Philosophy Department (Nankai University) donated 2 million yuan to their alma mater to establish the Tongyuan Nankai Education Fund.
On September 29th, Wei Li returned to his alma mater as a representative of donor alumni. Kexin Yang, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of Nankai University, met Wei Li. On behalf of the school, Kexin Yang expressed gratitude to Wu Wang and Wei Li for their generous donations by giving them some gifts.
On the same day, the donation ceremony of the Tongyuan Education Fund of Nankai University was held in the Haibing Building. Wei Li and Guanglei Zhu, former vice president of Nankai University, attended the donation ceremony. At the ceremony, Wei Li delivered a donation check to Guanglei Zhu as a donation representative, and Guanglei Zhu presented a donation certificate and souvenir to Wei Li.
Wei Li combined her work experience to express her gratitude and nostalgia for Nankai. She said that philosophy has been integrated into her own blood thanks to four years of study at Nankai University. Wei Li said that what she and Wu Wang want to do is to repay the society and the place that nourished them. Nankai University is the source of living water. She wishes Nankai a better future, hoping that the students of Nankai can truly continue to enrich their knowledge. She eventually passed on the spirit of the unity of knowledge and action of Nankai University.
Guanglei Zhu said that it is because of outstanding alumni like Wu Wang and Wei Li who care and love their alma mater that Nankai University can flourish for a century. The establishment of the Tongyuan Education Fund plays a very positive role in building a faculty of Nankai University and stimulates the academic innovation capabilities of high-end talents.
It is reported that the 1 million yuan donated this time has set up the Tongyuan Nankai Philosophy Education Fund at the School of Philosophy, and 1 million yuan has set up the Tongyuan Nankai Taiwan Economic Research Education Fund in the School of Economics. It is used to support student training, talent employment, scientific research, teaching and cross-strait exchanges at the School of Philosophy and the Taiwan Institute of Economics.
