Nankai University Served as Organizer of the “2020 National Postdoctoral Artificial Intelligence Development and Application Forum”

From October 22nd to October 24th, the 2020 National Postdoctoral Artificial Intelligence Development and Application Forum hosted by the National Postdoctoral Management Committee Office, China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, Tianjin Human Resources and Social Security Bureau and organized by Nankai University was held in Tianjin. Professor Ge Molin from the Chern Institute of Mathematics of Nankai University, Xia Wenfeng, Director of the Service Center for Overseas Chinese and Experts, Chen Hui, Deputy Director of Tianjin Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, and Xu Jingjun, Executive Vice President of Nankai University attended the opening ceremony of the forum on the 23rd of October. Well-known experts from the field of artificial intelligence and more than 100 young scholars, doctors, and postdoctors from home and abroad attended the conference.

In his opening speech, Xia Wenfeng discussed the development process and reform direction that China's postdoctoral system has taken since its 35th anniversary. At the same time, he affirmed Nankai University's positive practices in post-doctoral management and training, and encouraged the school to make new achievements in strengthening post-doctoral innovation ability and improving post-doctoral comprehensive quality.

Chen Hui introduced the development status of the artificial intelligence industry in Tianjin. She said that under the current background of big development opportunities, she hopes to contribute more Tianjin Power to the construction of Innovative China through the integration and interaction of academia and industry.

Xu Jingjun reviewed the development of artificial intelligence related disciplines in Nankai University. He said that artificial intelligence has become an important driving force for a new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation. He hopes to work with young talents to make greater contributions to the country's economic and social development.

This forum collected nearly a hundred papers from well-known universities and research institutes at home and abroad, such as the University of Pennsylvania, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne, Tsinghua University, the Institute of Automation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Peking University. After review by the expert group, there were 22 papers in total which won the special prize, first prize, second prize and the excellence prize. Xu Jingjun, Chen Hui and Xia Wenfeng presented awards to the authors of the winning papers.

After the ceremony, Academician Ge Molin gave a special lecture titled  “Artificial Intelligence Should be Combined with Interdisciplinary Efforts——With a Mention of the Development of Quantum Technology. The forum also invited well-known domestic professors in the field of artificial intelligence and guests from information technology application innovation enterprises in Tianjin to give academic reports and keynote speeches on the development and application of artificial intelligence, and set up sub-forums and round-table forums to promote in-depth exchanges and discussions among participants.


This forum focuses on national strategic planning and cutting-edge technology development in the field of artificial intelligence, aiming to promote exchanges and cooperation among post-doctoral researchers in artificial intelligence and information technology application innovation industries. At the same time, it promotes the policy of the introduction of scientific talents in Tianjin and Nankai University to further deepen the introduction of post-doctoral researchers in Nankai University and the reform and innovation of the management system, providing more ways and opportunities for the school to develop a high-quality post-doctoral team.
