On December 13, the 2020 Annual Meeting of the Shenzhen Nankai University Alumni Association, with the theme of “Build Our Dream for a Blooming Future”, was successfully held. More than 700 alumni of Nankai University in Shenzhen gathered together to review the work of the Alumni Association in 2020, sharing excellent alumni entrepreneurial experience, their latest achievements, as well as craft objectives of the coming year.

Li Yidan, Vice Chancellor of Nankai University, attended the conference and delivered a speech, introducing the new achievements in the development of Nankai University, and spoke highly of the work of the Shenzhen Alumni Association. He said that the advanced concept of the Shenzhen Alumni Association has played a leading and exemplary role for other Nankai alumni associations. In particular, the Shenzhen Alumni Association has taken the brunt of repaying the alma mater. He extended his wish that the Shenzhen Alumni Association, under the united leadership of the new council, can continue playing a pioneering and exemplary role and achieve more impressive results.

Zhou Da, the president of Shenzhen Nankai University Alumni Association, in his speech, said that 2020 is an extremely extraordinary year. Facing the sudden onslaught of COVID-19, which strains the industrial supply chain and sends shockwave to the capital market, Nankai alumni in Shenzhen, upholding the spirit of the school motto, while managing their businesses, also shoulder responsibilities and do what they can to help the others. In the past year, under the care of the alma mater and the guidance of the Nankai Alumni Association, with the joint efforts of more than 30,000 alumni in Shenzhen, the mechanism of the alumni association in Shenzhen has seen further improvement and greater vitality. Thirty platforms for cooperation and exchange have brought opportunities for joy and success to the alumni. In the past year, Nankai University has been well on the way to build a world-class university. Nankai University Shenzhen Research Institute and Nankai International Advanced Research Institute (Futian Shenzhen) have embarked on a new journey of further development.

At the meeting, alumni Fan Jianping, Dean of the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, was invited to give a keynote speech on Shenzhen's Innovation and Future; Alumni Yu Xuefeng, Chairman of CanSinoBIO which is in the forefront of global COVID-19 vaccine development and production， was invited to give a keynote speech on Development Methods and Applications of Different Technologies for COVID-19 Vaccines.

It is understood that facing COVID-19, Shenzhen alumni and their work companies have done their share by procuring essential goods, participating in constructions and donating money and goods to contribute to Nankai’s power. This year, the Shenzhen Nankai University Alumni Association Council Four Seasons Meeting, the New and Old Alumni Conference, the Nankai Good Projects, the China Visiting Group and the 101st Anniversary Water Moon in Hand collective film viewing activities were held as scheduled. Daily work of Alumni Association progressed in an orderly manner, and hundreds of events were held throughout the year to deepen the communication and friendship between alumni in all aspects. Shenzhen Nankai University Alumni Association is actively engaged in in-depth exchanges and cooperation with local governments and alumni associations. In 2020, the cooperation investment among alumni has reached 10 billion yuan.
