2020 Annual Meeting held by Nankai Shanghai Alumni Association

On December 19th, the 2020 Shanghai Nankai Alumni Annual Meeting was held. Nearly 100 guests attended the event, while the number of online participants exceeded 14,500. It was the first annual meeting held in the form of offline + online since the establishment of the alumni association.


Cao Xuetao, president of Nankai University, Zhang Wenzhong, chairman of the Nankai Alumni Entrepreneur Association, An Hongjun, executive chairman of Nankai Shanghai Alumni Association, and Wan Li, chairman of Nankai Tibet Alumni Association, attended the meeting. Han Yongnian, the son of Han Shuxin who is the former principal of Zigong Shuguang Middle School, a 1953-level alumnus of Chongqing Nankai Middle School who won third-class merits in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid North Korea, also participated.



On behalf of Nankai University and the Nankai Alumni Association, Cao extended his sincere greetings to the alumni in Shanghai and introduced the recent situation of the university. He said that during the year 2020, all the Nankai staff, students and professors keeping in mind the entrustment and encouragement of Secretary General Xi Jinping, faced the new century, adhered to the new concept, and took the 4211 Excellent Nankai Action Plan as the guide to accelerate the construction of the double first-class. As a result, in the process of education and teaching reform, inspiring and fruitful results and major breakthroughs have been achieved, also in fields such as teaching and research incentives, the task of meeting major national strategic needs and deepening the comprehensive reform of medical education.



An Hongjun in his speech said that in the past year, the Shanghai Nankai Alumni Association has worked together and made joint efforts to actively respond to the severe challenges imposed by the covid-19 pandemic, which has ensured the smooth processing of alumni activities in various online and offline forms.



In the speech, Zhang expressed his appreciation for the pioneering and innovative spirit and fruitful work of the Shanghai Alumni Association. He said that as an alumnus, it is the unshrinkable responsibility of all Nankai people to contribute to the development of the school, especially to promote the better and faster development of Nankai in the new historical moment with unmissable opportunities.



In the subsequent medical technology forums and capital market forums, alumnus Zhang Ao, with a master's degree from the Institute of Elemental Organic Chemistry in 1992 of Nankai University and Dean of the School of Pharmacy of Shanghai Jiaotong University, gave a speech with the theme antineoplastic drug discovery research: from molecular targeting to immunotherapy, while alumnus Yang Renwen, undergraduate of the Information Resource Management Department of the 2001 Business School and Director of the Founder Securities Research Institute, delivered a keynote speech called Some Thoughts on the Changes of Internet Business Models and Underlying Logic. More than a dozen of alumni in the fields of medicine and investment conducted full exchanges and discussions on the prospects of small molecule innovative drugs and the outlook for the capital market in 2021.



At the meeting, representatives of film producers with the producer of The Moon in Hand served as guest literary salons, and expressed their heartfelt thanks to the Shanghai Alumni Association and the Nankai Alumni Association in many places to immediately respond and actively organize film viewing activities. The director Chen Chuanxing specially recorded a video to express his gratitute. The annual meeting also held a commendation ceremony for alumni work, and published the 2020 Alumni Association Journal-Nankai·Shanghai Magazine.
