On March 20, the Spring Job Fair of Nankai University was held at Balitai campus. More than 300 employers were selected to attend the event. 9637 jobs and a recruitment demand of 24,914 employees attracted more than 2,400 graduates to attend the event. The scale of the meeting and the number of the attending students have been greatly increased compared with previous years.
For the convenience of graduates from Jinnan and Taida campus, the school sent a total of 10 employment buses for commuting between the campuses. Employment service stations were also set up at the job fair to provide graduates with various services such as CV guidance, career counselling and career assessment. Under the guidance of volunteers, graduates wearing masks, scanned codes, had their temperatures taken and queued up to enter the hall in an orderly manner. The atmosphere was warm and fervent.
As illustrated by the staff of the School's Student Career Guidance Centre, there were 9.09 million graduates from universities of China in 2021, breaking the highest record ever. Coping with the impact of Covid-19 and the tense situation of the spring job fair, graduates experience high pressure.
It is understood that in order to provide a good service under the tough situation of employment, Nankai University has taken a number of measures. Nankai University has been releasing employment information through multiple channels. Till now, it has released 9,858 pieces of recruitment information for graduates through the employment information network, WeChat and Feishu, held 481 job fairs of various kinds, provided 34,483 positions, and continued to increase recruitment positions to meet the employment needs of graduates.
Apart from expanding employment channels, the school also attached great importance to career guidance and service: Advice of Nankai University on Guiding and Encouraging Graduates to Serve National Strategic Needs in Employment and Entrepreneurship has been issued to further improve graduates' employment and entrepreneurship in serving national strategies. Nankai University Graduate Employment Guidebook deigned for graduates of 2021, covering employment services, contracting process, introduction to key employment policies and graduation dispatch procedures has been distributed to all the graduates. 354 graduates have been assisted to apply for the Tianjin job-seeking and entrepreneurship subsidy, and the fifth Job-seeking Encouragement Gold has been launched for graduates from ethnic minority groups, poor families and other groups with employment difficulties. 7 online seminars and job search skills training camps has been conducted online, with over 3,000 participants attending. Personnel training classes of Internet, finance and other industries has been carried out through cooperation with enterprises, more than 300 participants receiving certificates of completion. 20 public courses on career and entrepreneurship have been organized and 30 career coaches were invited to open up online individual career counselling for students. Online publicity team for west grassroots employment policy has been set up to propagate grassroots employment examples and employment promotion policies, guiding graduates to develop a correct outlook on their career choices.
