Opening of the 11th Nankai Reading Festival

On April 23, World Book and Copyright Day, the 11th Nankai Reading Festival opened in the Central Library of the Jinnan Campus of Nankai University. This year's reading festival featured a variety of activities. Nankai University Vice President Wang Xinsheng attended the opening ceremony, together with more than 200 representatives of teachers and students from the whole school.


In his speech, Wang Xinsheng on behalf of the school expressed his congratulations on the opening of the 11th Nankai Reading Festival, and fully affirmed the efforts and effectiveness of the school library in recent years. He pointed out that this year’s reading festival held a series of cultural education and reading promotion activities with rich content and various forms, and built a beneficial learning and practice platform.


Wang Xinsheng emphasized that first-class universities must have first-class libraries. Libraries of universities are not only the carrying of a physical space but are also the center of school's document resource and exchange. He conveyed his good wish that teachers and students of Nankai University could cherish the time to become outstanding talents by reading more books.



It has been 3 years since the establishment of the Lize Reading Culture Brand of Nankai University Library. The logo of the Lize Reading Culture Brand has also been released after the review of solicit ideas. The final selected logo scheme is lifted from the unfolded book page holder with the Nankai iconic octagonal pattern with the words Lize, which implies that relying on the Lize cultural brand activities, outstanding Nankai talents are cultivated through scholarly edification of comprehensive development and ideas.



At the opening ceremony, the guests also awarded the certificates to the winners of the 2020 Happy Reading Star, Reader Master, Tiantian Expert, Excellent Volunteer, Excellent Student Librarian and Student Association Contribution Award for encouragement.


It is known that the Nankai Reading Festival is one of the series of activities launched by the library of Nankai University during the annual World Book and Copyright Day. It aims to create a positive reading atmosphere and guide students to turn reading into a good habit and a lifelong hobby. The reading festival has been successfully held for 11 sessions so far, and it has now become an important brand cultural event of Nankai University.
