Recently, the Higher Education Evaluation Center of the Ministry of Education and the Working Committee for the Accreditation of Medical Education (WCAME) have announced the results of the 2020 Accreditation of Basic Medical Education. According to it, Nankai University was accredited for its clinical medicine program and this accreditation will be valid until 2026.
In order to effectively promote the quality evaluation of medical education, from December 10 to 29, WCAME organized and deployed an accreditation team to launch site visits at Nankai University. Based on the Standards for Basic Medical Education in China, the team carried out a comprehensive accreditation of the university’s medical education program.
This March, the clinical medicine program of Nankai University was listed by the Ministry of Education as one of the 2020 National First-Class Undergraduate Major Construction Sites. “After being accredited by the Ministry of Education, we can feel at the same time more affirmation and encouragement for both our major and the all-around development of the university,” says one of the college leaders.
Back in June 2020, the Working Committee for the Accreditation of Medical Education (WCAME) was formally certificated by the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME). Being an “unconditional” approval, it indicates that the standards and accreditation system of medical education in China have achieved international substantial equivalence. Moreover, as WCAME has won this recognition in terms of its medical education accreditation, the talents nurtured by WCAME-accredited universities are able to get the ticket of the international job market, which will allow them to be accepted by the global healthcare industry.
