Jiang Xiaojuan, member of the standing committee of the National People’s Congress, president of the Chinese Public Administration Society, and dean of the School of Public Policy and Management of Tsinghua University, joined the Nankai Public Welfare Lecture and the Nankai Economic Lecture on May 21st and delivered a speech titled Public Governance in the Digital Age to teachers and students of Nankai University. Academician Cao Xuetao, President of Nankai University, met with Dean Jiang Xiaojuan before the report and made a speech.

Cao Xuetao pointed out that Nankai University has been forming a strategic planning for the new centenary development, promoting the school’s construction of the “Double First-Class” Initiative through carrying out the “4211 Excellence Nankai Action Plan”. With the new round of scientific and technological revolution, issues including the development of digital economy and digital governance has become a focus of global attention. Against this backdrop, Nankai University has established an interdisciplinary research center for digital economy to meet the theme of the times and national major strategic requirements. The forum will become an academic activity laying a solid foundation for establishing the Center. Professor Jiang Xiaojuan, as a top expert in the field, is expected to lend substantial support to the innovation and development of Nankai digital economy research.

In the lecture titled “Public Governance in the Digital Age”, Professor Jiang Xiaojuan discussed the importance and extensive influence of the current development of digital technology, analyzed opportunities and challenges facing public governance in the digital age, and proposed ideas and principles of digital governance. She also enumerated a number of distinct examples such as scenes to which digital technology can apply and legal cases to make the complicated topic easier to understand.

Professor and doctoral supervisor Jiang Xiaojuan have engaged in research in the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences for 16 years, majoring in the fields of economic growth, industrial mix, international economy and public policy. Her research results have won numerous awards, including four Sun Yefang Awards in Economic Science and the 5th China Economic Theory Innovation Award.
