On May 22, at the closing ceremony of the Fifth WIC held in Tianjin, the China Institute of New Generation Artificial Intelligence Development Strategies released its annual report on the intelligent technology industry for the fourth consecutive year, the China's New Generation AI Technology Industry Development Report 2021 and China's New Generation AI Technology Industry Regional Competitiveness Evaluation Index 2021, which have attracted great interest from the academic and industrial communities.
“China's New Generation AI Technology Industry Development Report 2021 is titled the Comprehensive and Integrated Development of China’s AI Technology Industry. Based on 2,205 AI companies, 15 national AI open innovation platforms, 52 new AI R&D institutions and 48 new platforms-dominated rural cyberspace industry ecologies , the report comprehensively describes and summarizes the status quo and trends of the comprehensive integration of AI and economic society in China through attribute data and relationship analysis.
The report shows that with the innovative development of a new generation of information technology including 5G, the deep integration of AI and the secondary industry, especially the manufacturing industry, will gain momentum. The in-depth integration of AI and the real economy has been manifested in the upgrade of consumer internet and the development of industrial internet. New platforms and new R&D institutions with industry-enabling functions are the main drivers of the deep integration of AI and the real economy. As a technology applied for general purposes, AI not only creates new social productivity, but also activates the development potential of social productivity accumulated in previous industrial revolutions.
China's New Generation AI Technology Industry Regional Competitiveness Evaluation Index 2021 scientifically evaluates the regional development and competitiveness of the AI technology industry, analyzes the key factors and dynamic mechanisms that determine and affect the regional development of the AI technology industry and systematically inspects the effectiveness of the policy system for promoting industrial development and environmental conditions in various regions. There are 6 Tier-one indicators and 10 Tier-two indicators in the regional competitiveness evaluation index system of the AI technology industry. Under Tier-two indicators, 24 Tier-three indicators are generated from the angles of quantity and quality. In view of China's AI technology industry regional competitiveness index comprehensive ranking, Beijing, Guangdong Province, Shanghai, Zhejiang Province, Jiangsu Province, and Shandong Province are in the first echelon; provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions in the second echelon include Sichuan Province, Anhui Province, Hunan Province, Liaoning Province, Tianjin, Fujian Province, and Hubei Province.
