On May 29, the much-anticipated 9^th Mentors and Friends naming event of Nankai University has come to great success. 43 master tutors, having gone through students’ nominations, achievement presents, online voting and public review, were awarded the honor of Mentors and Friends. Among them, ten of which were rated in the top ten.

The naming of the top ten Mentors and Friends was held at the student activity center in Balitai Campus in the same morning. Qu Kai, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the university delivered a speech. 25 candidates, who were running for the top ten, took turns to appear on stage sharing their thoughts on teaching. Besides, more than 200 students from 26 colleges of the university voted on the spot.

After the on-site voting from students, Zeng Xiaoyu from the School of Literature, Yan Aimin from the Faculty of History, Liu Yuzhen from the College of Foreign Languages, Yuan Tongkai from the Zhou Enlai School of Government, Dong Shuhui from the College of Chinese Language and Culture, Qiu Hanqin from the College of Tourism and Service Management, Cheng Fangyi from the College of Chemistry, Wang Lei from the College of Environmental Science and Engineering, Shan Changliang from the College of Pharmacy, and Liu Bo from the College of Electronic Information and Optical Engineering were awarded as the top-ten Mentors and Friends of the year.

Qu Kai said, I hope that the mentors could continue to dedicate themselves, with hard work and virtues, to the educational career, cultivating students' ability to serve the country and public service. I hope that students will take the excellent mentors as role models, inherit the glorious patriotic spirit of Nankai to make a greater contribution as part of Nankai.

Nankai University has always attached great importance to the role of mentors in master education and fostering. This has been the 9^th of the Mentors and Friends contest since 2007. Over a decade, 204 outstanding mentors have been awarded this honor. The Mentors and Friends award run each year fully respects the opinions of masters’ students, meanwhile many ways are used to promote the achievements of the outstanding mentors. Now, it has become one of the eye-catching events of Nankai University that stands for the construction of teachers' professional ethics and morals, as well as fostering talents.
