On July 9-11, 2021, the Department of Information Resources Management in Nankai Business School hosted the inaugural conference of the special interest group (SIG) on Information Behavior of the Chinese Society for Science and Technology Information (CSSTI). The conference was co-organized by the Chinese Society for Science and Technology Information and the Research Center of Information Behavior Science at Nankai University.

Themed on “Information Behavior Research under Multi-dimensional Contexts”, the conference attracted more than 170 participants from universities, research institutions, and academic journal publishers. Dr. Li Yuelin, Director of the Department of Information Resources Management of the Business School at Nankai University and the Director of the SIG chaired the conference.

Speakers from the Chinese Society for Science and Technology Information, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences Research Administration at Nankai University, and the Business School at Nankai University delivered opening remarks at the inaugurating ceremony. Follow events included a keynote speech, six research presentations delivered by famous scholars, and different sessions with presentations and discussions on the latest research findings on information behavior. Finally, two academic writing workshops with Chinese paper writing and English paper writing were held respectively. In addition, a poster session was also carried out.

This conference offered a great opportunity for academic exchanges regarding the information behavior research among Chinese scholars and reiterated participants’ call for applying the research findings to enhance the social development of China and the world.
