The National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) has recently released part of the results of national funds application in 2021, announcing that 256 projects of Nankai University got support with a total direct funding of about 161 million yuan, which hit a record high of NSFC sponsorship.

In 2021, Nankai scholars and research teams received sponsorship for 138 general project, 99 projects for young scholars, one for innovative research group, two for Distinguished Young Scholars, seven for Outstanding Young Scholars, and nine for Key Programs. The number of the sponsored projects this year is 23 more than in 2020.

In 2021, NSFC received a total of 276,715 project applications and funded 45,681 research projects, with an overall funding rate of 16.51%. Nankai university contributed 1, 024 applications.
