On September 24, National Office for Philosophy and Social Sciences officially released the list of Annual and Youth Projects of the National Social Science Fund of China (NSFC) winners of year 2021. Altogether 4642 projects have been approved. Among the projects, 48 projects are awarded to Nankai University, with the number hitting the university record and ranking the fifth among all universities. The funding amounts to RMB 11.25 million.
The Annual Projects of NSFC include key projects and general projects, mainly funding basic research that play supporting roles in advancing theoretical innovation, and applied research that prompt economic and social development. The Youth Projects aim at funding the proposals from young researchers in philosophy and social sciences. This year, Nankai University has 11 key projects, 25 general projects and 12 youth projects sponsored, spreading over 18 disciplines. The successful application rate hits 25.8%, 11% higher than the national average level. The number of key projects has made breakthroughs, ranking the 2nd among all universities.
This year, Nankai University submitted 186 applications, which is 26.5% increase from last year.
