2021 National Higher Education Symposium on Innovation and Practice of Research-Oriented Teaching (hereinafter called the National Higher Education Symposium) was held at Nankai University. Over 3000 faculties, students and representatives from more than 100 institutions and organizations such as Peking University, Tsinghua University, Nankai University, Tianjin University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Chaoxing Group, etc. virtually attended the symposium.

At the opening ceremony, Song Gaimin, president of Tianjin Higher Education Society, spoke highly of the teaching reform of Nankai and its achievements of research-oriented teaching team. Wang Xinsheng, vice president of Nankai University, extended a warm welcome to the experts and scholars and announced the launch of Nankai University Research-Oriented Teaching (version 3.0).

He also added that Nankai University has always insisted on the concept of research-oriented teaching and encouraged students to take inquiry-based learning. The research-oriented teaching team is brave to explore and innovate. Over the last three years, It has completed the application and promotion of research-oriented teaching achievements in three steps, from universities in Tianjin to universities in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and then to nationwide. It also made a great stride in team capacity building and research & teaching undertaking, involoving a great number of teachers from Nankai and other univerisities, and remarkable results have been achieved.

Three theme reports and eighteen special reports covering Arts, Science, and Engineering were delivered at the symposium, which displayed exploration and practice results of research-oriented teaching from multi-discipline perspectives.
