Recently, Association for Information Science and Technology, Asia Pacific Chapter (hereinafter referred to as ASIS&T AP) announced the election results of the new term of Presidium. Professor Li Yuelin from Nankai University was elected the chair of ASIS&T AP.
Founded in 1937, with former names such as “American Documentation Institute”, “American Society for Information Science” and “American Society for Information Science and Technology”, ASIS&T now is the most influential international academic organization in the field of information resources management. Founded in October 2012, ASIS&T AP is a branch of ASIS&T, with its members in multiple countries and regions in the Asian-Pacific region. Through holding the branch annual meetings and relevant academic activities, it aims to strengthen the contact between all ASIS&T members in the Asian-Pacific region and promote the development of the discipline.
Li Yuelin is currently the director and a professor as well as a doctoral supervisor of the Department of Information Resources Management, Business School of Nankai University. Meantime, she acts as director of the Committee on Information Behavior Research, China Science & Technology Information Society. And from January 2019 to December 2020, she acted as an associate editor of Information Processing & Management (IP&M). She has long been committed to the academic research of information behavior, interactive information retrieval, health informatics, digital library and information system appraisal. She has hosted over 10 various research projects at different levels including major projects and key projects of National Social Science Fund of China and published around 100 academic papers in top journals such as JASIS&T, IP&M, Journal of Library Science in China, Journal of the China Society for Scientific and Technical Information.
