On the afternoon of December 17, the 40th Anniversary Celebration of Nankai Tourism Education was held at the College of Tourism and Service Management, Nankai University.   

Wang Xinsheng, vice president of Nankai University, delivered the opening speech via video to praise the achievements of tourism discipline of Nankai University in the past four decades and he also indicated its future development. Wang Xinsheng said, the international order and global governance in the post-pandemic era have drawn great attention, an open and inclusive community with a shared future for mankind is in compliance with the trend of the times, and the tourism industry, which is closely related to people’s livelihood and cultural fusion, would be bound to play an important role in the future development. He hoped that the faculty and staff devoting themselves and opening a new chapter for the high quality development of Nankai Tourism Education in the new era.

Qiu Hanqin, dean of the College of Tourism and Service Management, reviewed the history of the College in her report and summarized the achievements in discipline construction, talents training and international cooperation. Bao Jigang, president of Tourism Education Branch of China Tourism Association; Wu Jian, co-founder of Travel Go Group, professor Li Tianyuan, a representative of senior teachers; Zhang Chenwei, a student representative; and Sun Guowei, president of Nankai Tourism Alumni Association; spoke at the Celebration ceremony.  

Over the past 40 years, Nankai Tourism Education has seen substantial developments in teaching conditions and teaching resources, made remarkable teaching achievements, trained a large number of leading and excellent talents and blazed a trail of China’s Tourism Education. In recent years, Nankai Tourism has built international exchange platforms, won approval to establish the collaborative innovation center and created a highland for training new liberal arts talents, thus laying a solid foundation for future development.
