Interdisciplinary project "Tourism + Medicine" commissioned by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism

Recently, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism officially published the list of commissioned social science research projects in 2022. The project "Study on Tourism Health Risk Analysis and Service Model", led by professor Shi Peihua, director of the Provincial and Ministerial Collaborative Innovation Center for Modern Tourism Development, was on the list.

This project aims to explore and innovate the multidisciplinary research of "tourism + medicine", in which various health risks tourists may face will be sorted through. The project will analyze the hazard objects, extent of influence, hazard mechanism and risk characteristics of different types of health risks as well as the current prevention and control mechanisms and service systems of various tourism health risks. Combined with China's medical reform and the utilization of information technology and other new trends, the project designs to study the service model of ensuring tourists' health and explore the institutional and policy system with regard to improving the construction of cross-department, cross-region, and transnational tourism health security system. Meantime, it will study the risk perception, health literacy and health behavior of different types of tourists and then propose suggestions that guide tourism health behaviors and improve tourism health literacy.

To promote the research on how tourism tackles COVID-19 and explore "Tourism + Medicine" multidisciplinary research, the Center has published the Guide to Public Health Prevention and Control and Health Tourism Development and Research on the Impact of COVID-19 on China's Tourism and Countermeasures: Revitalization, Reconstruction and Health Revolution, and issued more than 20 papers and 15 government policy reports.
