Nankai scholar won "Thieme Chemistry Journal Award"

At the beginning of the new year, Thieme Group announced the list of winners of "Thieme Chemistry Journals Award" in 2022. Lu Zhaoyong, a researcher from the State Key Laboratory of Medicinal Chemical Biology at Nankai University, was one of the winners.

Founded in 1999, "Thieme Chemistry Journals Award" is given annually to researchers at the early stage of their independent academic career. The winners are selected exclusively by the members of the Editorial Committee of Synthesis, Synlett and Synfacts. The promising young people, in the field of chemical synthesis, catalysis or organic chemistry inextricably linked, are consistently focused on. The goal of this award is to recognize and encourage the new generation of organic chemists. In 2022, a total of 79 people across the globe received the "Thieme Chemistry Journals Award". The award achieved by Lu Zhaoyong signifies that his research work has been embraced by international peers.

Lu Zhaoyong joined the State Key Laboratory of Medicinal Chemical Biology at Nankai University in 2018. He has engaged in the research of the synthesis, action mechanism, medicinal chemistry and relevant transformation of the bioactive natural products. So far, he has published a number of research papers in important international chemical journals as the first author or corresponding author, including Nature Chem. (1) J. Am. Chem. Soc. (3) and Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. (1). At present, Lu Zhaoyong is leading 2 projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
