Professor Sun Ning from the College of Artificial Intelligence of Nankai University has recently won the Machines 2021 Young Investigator Award. The Awards Committee consists of an international panel of assessors led by Professor Antonio J. Marques Cardoso, the chief editor of Machines. After strict evaluation, a total of three winners were selected from all over the world. The other two award winners are Associate Professor Chen Lv from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and Dr. Ignacio Gonzalez-Prieto from Universidad de Málaga in Spain.
The Award is not limited to people who have published papers in the Machines but open to researchers all over the world. It is set up to reward outstanding young researchers worldwide who have made outstanding achievements in the field of mechanical and engineering and also received a doctoral degree within 10 years in the year of application.
Sun Ning received doctoral degree in Control Science and Engineering of Nankai University in June 2014, and his major research direction is robot intelligent control and applications. In recent years, Sun Ning has published 51 papers on IEEE Transactions and the Automatica, authorized 19 invention patents, and won the Distinguished Paper Award (corresponding author) of the IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, a top journal of Chinese Academy of Sciences Q1 in 2021 as well as many other major awards domestically and internationally.
