Wang Wurong outlined the "New Cornerstone Researcher Program" in terms of funding fields, investment scale, project characteristics and funding scale, organizational structure, application requirements, etc. She said that Nankai University boasts a profound foundation, complete disciplines and outstanding dominant disciplines, and she looks forward to further exchanges and cooperation in various fields with Nankai University. 

Cao Xuetao introduced the development of disciplines, scientific researches and the cultivation of outstanding talents in recent years, especially the establishment and progress of the university’s interdisciplinary science centers. He said that Tencent's "New Cornerstone Researcher Program" will support more technology workers in making exploration. Nankai University will do a good job in organizing applications and providing service support. It is expected that through the bilateral cooperation, potential future leaders can stand out and make more breakthroughs in the field of basic research. 

It is learned that the "New Cornerstone Researcher Program" is a new type of non-profit basic research funding program that focuses on original innovation, and encourages free inquiry. The program will be oriented to the two fields of "Mathematics and Physical Sciences" and "Biology and Medical Sciences" and encourages interdisciplinary research. Tencent will invest 10 billion yuan in 10 years to support outstanding scientists in devoting themselves to basic research to conduct original innovation from scratch, thereby advancing scientific development.
