Recently, the Ministry of Education announced the winners of the 8th China International College Students’ “Internet +” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. Nankai University achieved record-breaking results, with one gold, two silvers and eight bronzes. 

Sponsored by the Ministry of Education, the competition is China’s most comprehensive and influential discipline competition for college students with the largest number of participants. The 8th edition received more than 3.4 million entries by more than 14.5 million participants from 111 countries and regions. The probability of winning the gold award is 1.08 per 10,000. 

In the competition, the College of Artificial Intelligence of Nankai University won the gold award for its entry of Robotized Cloning and Pig Breeding for China’s Industry Revitalization in Rural Areas”. The team pioneered the world’s first robotized clone breeding technology, obtained eight invention patents, and published 10 SCI papers. It was the only university to be awarded the prize of China’s 10 Scientific and Technological Developments in Intelligent Manufacturing in 2018. Robotic clone breeding realizes the whole process of robot cloning with accurate positioning and quantitative operation, which can “replicate” top-rate individual breeding pigs in large numbers quickly. The team will build a clone breeding center which is committed to realizing a new industrial pattern that benefits both farmers and enterprises through breeding pig cultivation, product transformation and technical assistance, contributing to pig source in China.
