A group of Chinese academic masters of modern and contemporary times, including Zhang Pengchun, Ling Bing, Huang Yusheng, Tang Yongtong, Feng Wenqian, Yu Chuanjian, Zha Liangzhao, Pang Jingren, Wang Weicheng, and Wang Xun taught here one after another. It was approved as an authorized faculty for conferring doctoral degree in 1981, and was approved to offer a doctoral program in first-level philosophy discipline in 2002. In 2010, it was renamed the College of Philosophy.
