Recently, the conference to commemorate the 100th anniversary of NKU biology discipline was held at the auditorium of the main building at Balitai Campus.

The conference kicked off at 9.30 a.m. to the accompaniment of the solemn national anthem.

Those in attendence of the conference included academician Kuang Tingyun from the Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences; academician Li Jiayang from the Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences; academician Rao Zihe, former president of Nankai University and president of Tianjin Association for Science and Technology; academician Deng Zixin from Shanghai Jiao Tong University; academician Meng Anming, rotating chair of the China Union of Life Science Societies and a professor at Tsinghua University; academician Yan Xiyun from the Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences; academician Qian Qian from the Institute of Crop Sciences, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences; academician Yuan Junying from the Interdisciplinary Research Center on Biology and Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences; academician Zhang Yingze from Nankai University School of Medicine; academician Song Baoliang from Wuhan University; academician Zhang Keqin from Yunnan University.

More than 500 people attended the conference. Xie Guiling, Secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Life Sciences, Nankai University, moderated the meeting.

It is reported that from July 1 to 3, the College of Life Sciences held a series of academic and cultural events, including the Biomedicine Innovation and Development Forum, the Deans’ Forum, the Alumni Ball Game Networking, etc. At the same time, a book commemorating the 100th anniversary of NKU biology discipline was published; a commemorative stamp album was released; a feature film was produced; and a commemorative song “While drinking, don't forget the water’s source” created by the student band was launched and made into a music video.
