The finals of the 2023 “Oracle Bone Cup”-- “Chinese Characters and Me” Speech Contest for International Students was held in Anyang City, Henan Province on October 21. Zhou Jingya (Germany), a master student studying under the Chinese language and philology program at the School of Literature, won the championship. Zhang Tianyi (Pakistan), a master student studying under the international education program at the College of Chinese Language and Culture, won the award for the best creativity.
The 5th “Oracle Bone Cup”-- “Chinese Characters and Me” Speech Contest for International Students, hosted by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the People’s Government of Henan Province, is an important sideline event of the 2023 China (Anyang) International Conference of Chinese Characters. At the conference, 400 Chinese and foreign guests were invited to discuss “The World of Chinese Characters and Chinese Characters all over the World”. The competition drew 28 contestants from universities such as Beijing Foreign Studies University, Communication University of China, Tongji University, Tianjin University, Beijing Language and Culture University, Shanghai International Studies University, and Wuhan University. International students from around the world showed their deep understanding of Chinese characters and Chinese culture under the theme of “The Story of Chinese Characters in China”. NKU has participated in this contest twice consecutively and has took the first place twice.
