NKU Team Wins First Prize at the 17th Red Cross International Humanitarian Law Moot Court Competition

The 17th Red Cross International Humanitarian Law Moot Court Competition was recently held at Soochow University. Sixty teams from Peking University, Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Nankai University, China University of Political Science and Law, etc. participated in the competition, one of the moot court competitions with the most participants in China. After fierce competition, Nankai University team won the national first prize and came first for the written pleadings of the prosecution, which is the best-ever result achieved by Nankai University team in recent years.  


The International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Moot Court is one of the most influential international moot court competitions organized by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) aiming to promote the education and dissemination of humanitarian law knowledge and to explore the connotations of humanitarian law. Each year, the competition takes place in the context of the pre-trial phase of the International Criminal Court regarding the virtual cases based on the focus of world events. Court debates and written pleadings are all conducted in English.
