The graduation and degree conferral ceremony for the 2024  undergraduate, master’s and doctoral students of Nankai University were held at Balitai Campus and Jinnan Campus on June 20 and 21. University leaders Yang Qingshan, Chen Yulu, Yang Kexin, Chen Jun, Liang Qi, Niu Wenli, Sheng Bin, Fang Yongchun, Zhu Shoufei, and representatives of the University’s Degree Evaluation Committee and heads of various colleges and schools attended the ceremony.

The ceremony kicked off with the accompaniment of the solemn national anthem.

At the ceremony, the leaders of the university read out the decision to confer degrees, congratulated all the graduates, turned the tassels for them, and awarded certificates.

This year marks the 65th anniversary of Premier Zhou Enlai’s third visit to his alma mater, Nankai University. President Chen Yulu delivered a speech entitled “Following the Spirit of Zhou Enlai”, encouraging the graduates to observe noble character in their life and work, fulfil responsibility and perform practical work for the country and the people, and promote the development of human civilization.

At the ceremony, Chen Yulu narrated the experience of Zhou Enlai, He Lian, Yang Shixian, Guo Yonghuai, Shiing-shen Chern, He Binglin, Zhou Qilin and other outstanding Nankai University alumni who were devoted to serving the country with their unwavering aspirations, and led all the graduates to review the “Three Questions on Patriotism”. 

Li Pengcheng, a graduate of Nankai Business School, and Li Yuxuan, a graduate of the College of Computer Science, delivered speeches respectively as master and bachelor students .

Li Peihui, a doctoral student from the College of Electronic Information and Optical Engineering, spoke on behalf of the doctoral graduates.

Wu Wei, a 1994 cohort alumnus of the Department of Tourism of Nankai University and chairman of the Zhejiang Future Smile Charitable Foundation, sent blessings and encouragement to the graduates on behalf of the alumni.

Chen Yongsheng, a chair professor at the College of Chemistry; Wang Xinsheng, former vice president of Nankai University and dean of the School of Marxism; and Li Wei’an, a chair professor at Nankai University and a professor at Nankai Business School, delivered speeches as faculty representatives.

At the end of the ceremony, the University Anthem sounded again. The students had group photos with their teachers, relatives and friends to preserve the beautiful moments at Nankai University.
