The Compiler System Design Contest (Huawei Bisheng Cup) and the Operating System Design Contest, both key components of the 2024 Computer System Development Capability Competition (CSCC), concluded from August 18 to 22 at Hangzhou Dianzi University. Two teams from Nankai University’s College of Computer Science and College of Cyber Science under the guidance of Professor Wang Gang and Instructor Li Zhongwei, excelled among 209 participating teams nationwide, securing first prizes in the Compiler System Design Contest. They are “Bayunlan Architecture Compiler and RE’s Orange” team (composed of Hua Zhiyuan, Zhang Changhao, and Kong Derong) and the “Artificially Generated Intelligence” team (composed of Mei Junyi, Guo Dawei, Qiu Kewen, and Feng Sicheng), both standing out for their impressive achievements.

NKU students from the two colleges also achieved notable results in other categories of the contest. They secured second prize in the OS Kernel and third prize in the OS Function of the Operating System Design Contest, and third prize in the Database Management System Design Contest. Additionally, several instructors were honored with the Outstanding Instructor Award for their exceptional guidance.

Professor Wang Gang highlighted that this year’s success represents four consecutive years of outstanding performance by students from the two colleges in this competition, following their initial success in 2021. Their achievements underscore the substantial progress made by the two colleges in improving their curriculum and experimental teaching methods.

CSCC, co-organized by the Ministry of Education’s Teaching Steering Committee for Computer Science Majors and the Computer System Development Capability Cultivation Expert Group, aims to advance discipline development and foster innovation in computer science education through discipline competition.
