On October 10, Nankai University hosted the “Double Ninth Festival: Celebrating Culture and Heritage” — a Chinese-foreign cultural exchange event and the prelude to the Foreign Language Festival at Langyuan, the College of Foreign Languages.
Nankai University students, including both Chinese and international attendees, participated in various traditional activities, including knowledge quizzes, arrow throwing, Chinese brush calligraphy, sachet-making, and tasting Double Ninth pastries. These activities allowed students to immerse themselves in and gain a deeper appreciation for the depth and richness of Chinese culture.
Fan Shuimei, a Vietnamese international student, took part in the calligraphy session. This marks her second time celebrating the Double Ninth Festival in China.
Li Borui, an Egyptian student, expressed great interest in Chinese traditions as he took part in Nankai’s Double Ninth Festival activities for the first time.
The event coordinator explained that the purpose of this cultural exchange activity was to enhance students’ understanding of fine traditional Chinese culture, fostering a sense of connection and inspiration through the interaction of diverse cultures.
