On October 9, Qaisar Abbas, President of University of Sargodha in Pakistan and an alumnus of Nankai University’s School of Economics, visited Nankai University. Bai Chengming, Vice President of Nankai University, welcomed him at the Balitai Campus.
Bai Chengming warmly welcomed Qaisar Abbas, noting the strong ties between China and Pakistan, and commended him as an outstanding Nankai alumnus. He expressed hopes for both universities to strengthen cooperation in key academic areas, fostering closer educational exchanges to further deepen the friendship between the two nations.
Qaisar Abbas thanked Nankai University for the warm reception and provided an overview of University of Sargodha, including its history and academic strengths. He expressed his desire to formalize a partnership between the two universities and proposed establishing a Nankai University Alumni Association in Pakistan.
The meeting was attended by heads from Nankai’s Alumni Association, the School of Economics, the College of Pharmacy, the Alumni Office, and the Office of International Affairs. During his visit, Qaisar Abbas met with heads from the School of Economics and the College of Pharmacy to discuss potential collaborations, including student and faculty exchanges and joint research.
The University of Sargodha, established in 1929, a major public sector University in Sargodha, Pakistan, started its journey with the establishment of De’Montmorency College and was later renamed as Government College, and was officially named as the University of Sargodha in 2002. The university currently has around 19,000 students and over 550 faculty members, with strong programs in clinical medicine, engineering, life sciences, and physical sciences, etc.
