On October 19, Nankai University celebrated the 40th anniversary of its Institute of Modern Optics and hosted the Symposium on Industry-University-Research Cooperation in Optoelectronic Information. The event was attended by Zhao Meirong, Vice-Chancellor of Nankai University, together with over 300 participants, including academic and industry experts, scholars, alumni, and faculty and student representatives from the university.

Ms. Zhao Meirong delivered a welcome address on behalf of the university.

Ms. Zhao Meirong, Mr. Du Yujin, Chair of the College of Electronic Information and Optical Engineering, and Professor Liu Weiwei, Director of the Institute of Modern Optics, jointly unveiled the “Mu Guoguang Scientist Spirit Education Base” to commemorate the Academician Mu Guoguang, the founder of the Institute, for his significant contributions to the field of optical research and education.

Mr. Du Yujin and Prof. Liu Weiwei reflected on the development histories of the College and the Institute, respectively.

The inauguration ceremony of the Nankai Industry-University-Research Cooperation Alliance on Optoelectronic Information was held at the symposium.

During the Symposium, experts and business representatives engaged in deep discussions. Participants included Rong Haisheng, Chief Scientist at Intel Corporation (USA); Sun Qiang, Chairman of Suzhou Dongfang Keluotuo Optoelectronic Technology Co., Ltd.; Professor Jin Long from Jinan University; Associate Professor Yang Yuanmu from Tsinghua University; Researcher Jiang Meng from the Beijing Aerospace Control Instrument Research Institute; Professor Shen Heng from Shanxi University; Wang Wei, General Manager of Beijing Jianhe Bafang Technology Development Co., Ltd.; and Professor Zhang Lei from the Institute of Modern Optics at Nankai University. The discussions covered a range of cutting-edge topics, including silicon photonic chip R&D, special optoelectronic technology applications, fiber optic and photoacoustic sensing and imaging technology, monocular multi-dimensional light field cameras based on metasurfaces, semiconductor optical amplifiers, quantum optics of room-temperature atomic systems, fiber optic gas sensing, and EUV photoresists.
