IUPAC Former President Visited NKU

On October 15, Javier García-Martínez, former President of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) and professor at the University of Alicante, Spain, visited Nankai University. Chen Yulu, President of Nankai University, hosted a meeting on the Balitai Campus and presented him with a certificate as the “Nankai University Overseas Scholar Lecturer”.



Prior to the lecture, President Chen extended a warm welcome to Javier García-Martínez and extended his gratitude to IUPAC for its invaluable support in organizing the 54th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO2022) at Nankai University.


Javier García-Martínez expressed his gratitude for Nankai’s warm reception and shared his anticipation of future collaborations with Nankai University on international platforms such as the Davos Forum and the International Chemistry Olympiad.


Established in 1919 in Paris, France, IUPAC is headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland. Its predecessor, the International Association of Chemistry Societies, was founded in 1911 in London, UK. IUPAC is committed to developing chemical nomenclature, terminology, measurement methods, atomic weights, and rigorously evaluated data. These efforts provide critical support for fostering global collaboration in the field of chemistry.
