A Delegation from Center for Language Education and Cooperation Visits Nankai University

On March 20, Yu Yunfeng, Director-General of Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) of the Ministry of Education, led a delegation on visit to Nankai University, to conduct research and exchange views on the advancement of international Chinese language education. Chen Yulu, President of Nankai University, met with the guests on Balitai Campus. The meeting was also attended by Chen Jun, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Vice President of NKU.  

Chen Yulu expressed appreciation for the longstanding support of CLEC for NKU and introduced the university’s achievements in international Chinese language education in recent years. He noted that the two sides have worked closely over the years and yielded fruitful outcomes in discipline development, academic exchanges, talent cultivation, and many other fields. According to him, NKU will strengthen its contribution to the high-quality development of international Chinese language education by further integrating resources and tapping into its strengths in interdisciplinary clusters and regional distinctiveness. The university will vigorously promote cross-disciplinary integration and digital empowerment and continue optimizing the Chinese language education platforms both domestically and globally, while refining the international Chinese language education systems and accelerating the professional upskilling of the faculty.

Yu Yunfeng spoke highly of Nankai’s outstanding contributions to the advancement of international Chinese language education. He encouraged the university to build on its strengths and leverage artificial intelligence and other cutting-edge technologies to further empower the discipline. He called for enhanced efforts in promoting the localized development and systematic structuring of Chinese language education, developing intelligent education paradigms, supporting the Belt and Road Initiative, maximizing the impact of overseas platforms, and driving tangible progress and achievements in international Chinese language education. 

During the visit, the two sides held a meeting at the Haibing Center on Balitai Campus, where they exchanged insights on advancing discipline development of international Chinese language education and other related topics.

The delegation also toured the Centennial Anniversary Exhibition of Nankai University, which chronicled the university’s illustrious century-long journey of educational excellence and unrelenting advancement under its founding motto “Dedication to Public Interests, Acquistion of All-round Capability, Aspiration for Progress with Each Passing Day.”
