Nankai University Holds the 3rd Forum of the Alliance for Building China's Independent Knowledge System in Business Administration Discipline

The 3rd Forum of the Alliance for Building China’s Independent Knowledge System in Business Administration Discipline was held in Nankai University on April 20. The forum, with the theme of Creating a New World of Management through Academic Creativity and Serving Chinese Path to Modernization, was co-hosted by Nankai Business School, Nankai University Institute of Chinese Path to Modernization, and the editorial board of Nankai Business Review.

The conference was attended by Chen Yulu, President of Nankai University; Lin Shangli, President of Renmin University of China; Liang Yangchun, President of Journal of Management World; Wei Jiang, President of Zhejiang University of Finance & Economics; Huang Sujian, President of the Chinese Institute of Business Administration; Cai Li, former Executive Deputy Secretary of the CPC Jilin University Committee; Du Fenglian, Vice President of Inner Mongolia University; Chen Yantai, Vice President of Zhejiang Gongshang University; Ma Yongqiang, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Southwestern University of Finance and Economics Committee as well as the University's Vice President; and Liu Qiao, Vice Chairman of the National MBA Education Steering Committee and Dean of Guanghua School of Management of Peking University. The conference was presided over by Sheng Bin, Vice President of Nankai University.

In his speech, Chen Yulu stated that the establishment of the Alliance for Building China's Independent Knowledge System in Business Administration Discipline and the holding of this forum aim to build consensus and form a synergy for the development of Chinese philosophy and social sciences, especially the discipline of business administration. NKU' s business administration discipline has drawn upon a century of academic heritage and long been at the forefront of innovation and exploration, and has formed distinct advantages and characteristics. He hoped for in-depth exchanges and cooperation with experts and scholars, jointly contributing to the establishment of an independent knowledge system of philosophy and social sciences with Chinese characteristics.

Chen Yulu pointed out that it was necessary to accelerate the development and innovation of disciplinary systems, using disciplines as the framework to systematically sort, integrate and create knowledge, in order to provide a vital platform for the construction of an independent knowledge system. He called for grounding academic efforts in the grand theories and practical needs of Chinese path to modernization, and for clearly articulating a series of defining concepts and original theories creatively put forward by the Communist Party of China from the perspective of overall strategy and specific problems, in order to contribute Chinas wisdom to the development of the human knowledge system. It must be understood that the methodology of the socialist market economy system with Chinese characteristics is the basic logical framework for constructing the independent knowledge system of Chinas economic management discipline. We must be aware of the core characteristics and dialectical unity of  Chinese characteristicssocialism and market economy, and enhance the independence of Chinas development model, thereby contributing to the construction of a high-level socialist market economy system.

In his remarks, Lin Shangli noted that human society is currently undergoing a historic transition from industrial civilization to digital civilization. Chinese path to modernization is a new type of modernization that marches towards digital civilization, which requires distinct values underpinning and practical experience. In the new era, the discipline of business administration should integrate cutting-edge theories including information theory, cybernetics, and system theory with emerging technologies such as intelligent agents and artificial intelligence, whcih would help pursue a new paradigm that meets the requirements of the digital age, and promote institutional, technological and cultural innovations, providing both theoretical and practical support to Chinas high-quality development. The Alliance should draw on Chinas experience and wisdom and accelerate the construction of an independent knowledge system, presenting Chinas solutions to the world.

In the keynote report session, Huang Sujian, Liu Qiao, Wei Jiang, Cai Li, and Bai Changhong (Dean of of Nankai Business School), made keynote reports on The Logic of Management for High-quality Development of Private Enterprises How Management Research Promotes the Development of New Productive Forces Asymmetric Innovation: Leap Forward for Chinese Enterprises Theoretical Construction for Innovation-Driven Entrepreneurship and Practical Wisdom and Knowledge Creation, respectively.

In the afternoon, the Press Conference for Release of Representative Experiences and Featured Achievements in Business Administration Discipline of Chinas Independent Knowledge System was held at Nankai Business School. Mmember Institutions of the Alliance shared their experiences and achievements in the construction of Chinas independent knowledge system.
