On May 27, the signing ceremony of strategic cooperation between Nankai University and Wumart Group was held at Haibing Center on Balitai Campus. Yang Qingshan, Secretary of the CPC Nankai University Committee, and Zhang Wenzhong, founder of Wumart Group, lifelong trustee of Nankai University, and chairman of Nankai Alumni Business Association, attended the event and witnessed the signing. Sheng Bin, Vice President of Nankai University, and Guo Tuwei, Vice President of Wumart Group and Chairman of Wumart Tianjin, signed the strategic cooperation agreement on behalf of both parties. Other distinguished guests present at the event included: Zhang Weiping, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a professor at NKU Chern Institute of Mathematics; Liu Deyu, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Wumart Group Committee; Wen Biao, a trustee of Nankai University, co-founder of Xinkaihu Fund, Executive Chairman and Secretary-General of Nankai Alumni Business Association; Yang Gang, Deputy General Manager of Wumart Tianjin; and Chen Yunzhuo, a trustee of Nankai Alumni Business Association, co-president of Hong Kong Nankai Alumni Association, and Senior Regional Director of Prudential. Yu Hai, Assistant to the President of Nankai University, presided over the signing ceremony.

Founded in 1994 by Zhang Wenzhong, Wumart Group is one of China's pioneering and largest digital omni-channel modern distribution enterprises, and it has been ranked among China’s top 500 enterprises for 23 consecutive years. Under this agreement, Nankai University and Wumart Group will leverage their respective resources and professional strengths to establish extensive and long-term cooperative relations, further foster cooperation and development in talent cultivation, joint scientific research, innovation and entrepreneurship, rural vitalization, etc., and promote the stellar development of various undertakings.

Yang Qingshan expressed his gratitude to Zhang Wenzhong for his long-term contributions to Nankai University’s education undertakings and to Wumart Group for its important support for the university’s development. He hoped that the two sides would take this contract signing as a strategic pivot to foster productive cooperation in the enterprise-university-research institute collaboration, innovation and entrepreneurship, rural vitalization and assistance, and the development of Tiankai Higher Education Innovation Park.

Zhang Wenzhong expressed his gratitude to his alma mater for its intellectual cultivation and guardianship. He said that Wumart Group looked forward to closely collaborating with Nankai University, and giving full play to their respective resource advantages to advance the high-quality coordinated development between the university and enterprise. The two sides would further cooperate in cultivating innovative talents in the era of artificial intelligence, developing Nankai University’s mathematics disciplines, jointly establishing student internship practice bases, and conducting joint scientific research and innovation. This would provide impetus and support for Nankai University to build a world-class university.
