On May 30, Chinese and foreign graduates from the 2025 cohort at the School of Foreign Studies of Nankai University gathered with Chinese and foreign faculty to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival and savor charming excellent traditional Chinese culture.

The participants experienced folk activities including making sachets, weaving mugwort bouquets and colorful strings, and participated in interactive games including pitching-pot, making lacquer fans, and “fishing zongzi”.

The event also featured a quiz on Dragon Boat Festival cultural knowledge. Faculty and students learned about the customs of the Dragon Boat Festival in the fun “level-breaking game‌”. In the language and culture trivia part, they also practiced tongue twisters, alveolar trill‌ and uvular trill to feel the charm of different languages.

Franco Guerra Raydis Moises, a foreign Spanish teacher, has participated in the Dragon Boat Festival for two running years. He said, “When the Dragon Boat Festival meets the graduation season, we experience the excellent traditional Chinese culture in a festive atmosphere. It’s awesome!”

Russian master’s degree graduate Sosenko Valeriia said, “Nankai University will always be my ‘home’. Going forward, I will stay in Tianjin, and gain more from and contribute more to cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries.”
