On the afternoon of June 10, Ms. Judit Gerencsér, President of the Association of Hungarian Librarians (MKE) and Deputy Chief Librarian of the National Szechenyi Library, and her delegation visited the Central Library of Nankai University on Jinnan Campus. Han Zhaoying, chief librarian of Nankai University Library, and Dong Bei, assistant to chief librarian hosted the delegation.
Han Zhaoying extended a warm welcome to Judit Gerencsér and her delegation. He gave a detailed introduction to the history and resource development of Nankai University Library, and hoped that both sides would actively explore and carry out project cooperation in areas such as resource development, ancient book conservation and academic exchange.
Judit Gerencsér expressed her gratitude to Nankai University Library for its warm reception, and said that the two libraries have a lot in common in terms of resource development, ancient book conservation, construction of intelligent library, among others, and looked forward to further cooperation and exchanges with Nankai University Library.
In the Ancient Books and Special Collections Area of the library, the delegation first visited the reading room to get an overview of the ancient books in the library and learn about the service process. Later, the delegation came to the exhibition hall to learn about the binding of Chinese ancient books as well as calligraphy art by flipping through the special collections including the personal collection of Xu Shichang and the hand-written letters of Zeng Guofan. Finally, the guests visited the conservation room to observe the conservation process of ancient books and rubbings as well as the conservation skills exhibited.
In addition, the delegation visited the featured spaces and facilities in the library, including the planning model of NKU Jinnan Campus on the seventh floor, NKU Archives, Reading Rooms, Multimedia Audio & Video Area, and Library Data Platform.
