On June 8, the School of Foreign Studies of Nankai University held the “Bridging Cultures through Language and Drama: A SCO-Silk Road Showcase” thematic event, offering a vibrant multicultural exchange that drew domestic and international faculty and students, including those from Russia, Pakistan, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, the United States and Italy.
The event began with a performance of the Horseman' s Dance, followed by a multilingual poetry recitation of To the Sea delivered in Chinese, Russian, English and Arabic by both Chinese and international students.

The Russian, Japanese, and Italian versions of the play Thunderstorm and the English version of the play Mulan were performed in turn. Horn Romchong, an international student from Cambodia, expressed her excitement, The power of art transcends borders, and I hope to further learn and experience Chinese culture and become an envoy of cultural exchanges between the two countries.
During the My SCO Story Sharing session, Sergei Belikov, a Russian faculty member, shared his experience of studying, working and living in China in fluent Chinese. Xu Lili, associate Prof. at the Department of Russian Language, spoke about the in-depth value bembeded in language and highlighted the key role of the Russian language in the SCO.
In the outdoor immersive cultural experience area, Chinese and foreign faculty and students learned more about the culture of the SCO member states through fun games such as the Russian alveolar trill challenge, drama knowledge challenge, SCO summit knowledge quiz, and Chinese tongue twisters. In the handcarft workshop, participant enjoyed hands-on experience with Russian Matryoshka doll painting and Chinese calligraphy.
Through multilingual interaction and cultural performances, the event aims to use language as a bridge, injecting youth power into efforts to deepen people-to-people bonds and promote cultural exchanges and mutual learning.
