Sheng Bin, Vice President of NKU, presided over the opening ceremony and presented an overview of the university’s development.

In his address, Yang Qingshan noted that this year marks the 106th anniversary of Nankai University. Looking back on the past century, NKU has grown from its arduous founding into a prestigious institution, a process made possible by the perseverance of generations of NKU scholars and the enduring NKU spirit. In recent years, the university has actively pursued a talent-driven development strategy, implementing landmark initiatives such as the Top Talents Support Program and the Cultivation Program for Young Academic Leaders. These measures have gradually shaped a distinctive NKU talent system, fostering a new development ecosystem that is academically rigorous, well-structured, and fully supportive. He expressed hopes that the forum would inspire participating experts, scholars, and young talents to engage with NKU, deepen their understanding of the university, consider joining its community, and together contribute to advancing Chinese modernization.

Sheng Bin outlined NKU’s progress across eight areas: historical development, strategic planning, talent cultivation, development of academic disciplines, education and teaching, scientific research, international cooperation and exchanges, and campus culture. He reaffirmed that talent remains the university’s foremost resource and that NKU is committed to discovering, cultivating, attracting, and retaining outstanding individuals. He extended an invitation to talented scholars worldwide who pursue excellence to join NKU and shape the future together.

At the forum, Professor Xu Wentao from the College of Electronic Information and Optical Engineering delivered a talk titled “Reflections on Life Value, Wealth, and Development”, sharing his professional journey and experiences at NKU.

Following the opening ceremony, more than 20 parallel sessions were held by NKU’s schools and research institutes. These activities provided in-depth presentations on NKU’s development of academic disciplines, facilitated discussions on international frontier science and academic hotspots, and focused on development priorities and on enhancing the university’s ability to attract and retain top talents.
