2025 China Aid Degree Education Software Engineering Master Program Launched at Nankai University

On September 29, Nankai University held the opening ceremony for 2025 Master Program in Software Engineering (part of Foreign Aid Academic Education) in the lecture hall of Administration Hall (West) on Jinnan campus. The event brought together 45 students from 18 countries and regions, including Ethiopia, Kenya, Sierra Leone, Nepal, and Iraq.

Bai Chengming, Vice President of Nankai University, attended the ceremony, joined by officials from the Foreign Economic Cooperation Office of Tianjin Municipal Bureau of Commerce, the Graduate School, the Office of International Affairs, the School of International Education and the College of Software at Nankai University, as well as faculty and student representatives from the university.

In his address, Bai Chengming extended a warm welcome to the international students and introduced NKU’s rich history, current development, and international engagement. He emphasized NKU’s strong commitment to this Program, expressing hope that all students would not only acquire expertise, but also develop lasting friendships with the Chinese people. Bai Chengming encouraged them to contribute to the growth of the Internet and software engineering sectors upon returning home after completing their studies and to serve as ambassadors of friendship, helping to build bridges for youth exchanges between China and the rest of the world.

The Academic Education Program for Developing Countries is designed to train high-caliber professionals in technology, economy, trade, and management for recipient countries. Since its inception, the Program has played a vital role in nurturing talent for developing nations and enhancing international cooperation, earning widespread recognition among developing countries. The College of Software at Nankai University has been the sole institution in China authorized to offer this Masters program in Software Engineering since 2017. It is also among the top institutions nationwide in student enrolment for China aid degree programs. The two-year program is delivered entirely in English, with full English-language coursework and thesis supervision.
