
On October 19, Nankai University (NKU) President Chen Yulu met with Pierre Agostini, the 2023 Nobel Laureate in Physics and NKU Honorary Professor, during his visit to Tianjin for the Tianjin Forum 2025. The meeting was also attended by Chen Jun, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Vice President of NKU. The two sides held in-depth discussions on enhancing international cooperation and advancing collaborative research in cutting-edge optics.
President Chen extended warm welcome and sincere gratitude to Prof. Agostini for his participation and invited keynote speech at the Tianjin Forum 2025. He noted that the establishment of the Pierre Agostini International Joint Research Center for Ultrafast Optics and Applications on campus has significantly advanced the development of optics and related disciplines at the university. President Chen reaffirmed NKU’s continued support for the center’s high-level research initiatives. He also expressed the university’s commitment to advancing interdisciplinary collaboration and providing robust institutional backing for the center’s high-quality development.
Prof. Agostini expressed appreciation for NKU’s long-standing support and meticulous arrangements for Tianjin Forum 2025. He reviewed the consensus already reached with the NKU research team and pledged his full commitment and enthusiasm to advancing frontier scientific projects, driving the center toward more substantive outcomes, and establishing a new paradigm for international collaboration.
