
On November 8, the Eighth General Meeting of the Nankai Alumni Association was held on Balitai Campus. Nearly 400 participants attended the event, including heads of Nankai family of schools; representatives of local, industry-based, and academic alumni associations; representatives of year-group council members; alumni from China and abroad; as well as faculty and students from Nankai’s departments and schools.


Yang Qingshan, Chairman of the Seventh Council of the Nankai Alumni Association and Secretary of the CPC Nankai University Committee, delivered a work report on behalf of the Seventh Council. He stated that since assuming office in October 2020, under the guidance of higher authorities and with the support of the Nankai family of schools, the Nankai Alumni Association has upheld the university motto of “Dedication to public interests, acquisition of all-round capability, and aspiration for progress with each passing day” and the development philosophy of a “Greater Nankai”. In keeping with its mission to “serve alumni, the alma mater, and society”, the Association has actively expanded its global alumni network, promoted high-quality alumni engagement, and achieved breakthrough progress in organizational development, brand building, cultural communication, and platform creation. Looking ahead to the new requirements brought by education reform in the new era, Yang stressed that the Association will further deepen the “Greater Nankai” concept, continue innovating working mechanisms, broaden its areas of work, and enhance effectiveness. It will seek to strengthen strategic collaboration among member schools, build a closer Nankai development community, and support alumni in mutual advancement, in giving back to their alma mater, and in contributing to society, thereby jointly making greater contributions to enhancing the Nankai educational brand and supporting national development and rejuvenation.

In his address, Chen Yulu, President of Nankai University, expressed sincere appreciation to alumni around the world for their dedication and achievements. He remarked that the meeting was not only a joyful reunion to reflect on history and celebrate Nankai bonds, but also a major event to look to the future, pool strength, and envision new development. Entrusted with the trust and expectations of alumni worldwide, representatives gathered in Tianjin to discuss the future of alumni work and chart new chapters for Nankai’s development. Chen recalled with deep affection the outstanding contributions alumni have made throughout Nankai’s history, expressing heartfelt gratitude for their generous material support and the valuable practical experience they have shared over the years. He stressed that Nankai will always be a strong support and spiritual home for its alumni, wherever they may be. He encouraged alumni to come back to relive their youth and witness new developments on campus. He expressed the hope that this meeting would serve as an opportunity to rally the global Nankai community more broadly, and to contribute to building a strong education nation, advancing national rejuvenation, and fostering human progress through outstanding achievements in the new era.

Bai Chengming, Vice Chairman of the Seventh Council of the Nankai Alumni Association and Vice President of Nankai University, presented a financial report.

Li Yi, Vice Chairwoman of the Seventh Council of the Nankai Alumni Association and Secretary of the Party Committee of Nankai Middle School, read out proposed revisions to the Charter of the Nankai Alumni Association.

Tian Xiangping, Vice Chairman of the Seventh Council of the Nankai Alumni Association and President of Chongqing Nankai Middle School Education Group, read the proposed list of members for the Eighth Council of the Nankai Alumni Association.

Huang Weichen, Secretary of the Party Committee of Shuguang Middle School in Zigong, read the proposed list of members for the Second Board of Supervisors of the Nankai Alumni Association.
The meeting reviewed and approved the work report and financial report of the Seventh Council, and voted to adopt the revisions to the Charter of the Nankai Alumni Association, the list of members for the Eighth Council, and the list of members for the Second Board of Supervisors.

Sun Zhuo, Secretary of the Party Committee of Tianjin The Second Nankai Middle School, announced the list of standing council members, secretary-general, vice chairpersons, and chairperson of the Eighth Council of the Nankai Alumni Association.

Ran Mengkai, Secretary of the Party Committee of Chongqing Nankai Middle School, announced the list of vice chairpersons and chairperson of the Second Board of Supervisors of the Nankai Alumni Association.
During the event, the first meeting of the Eighth Council and the first meeting of the Second Board of Supervisors of the Nankai Alumni Association were also held. The meetings elected the standing council members, secretary-general, vice chairpersons, and chairperson of the new council, as well as the vice chairpersons and chairperson of the new board of supervisors. Revisions to the internal management systems of the Nankai Alumni Association were also approved.
Yang Qingshan was elected as the Chairman of the Eighth Council of the Nankai Alumni Association. Zhou Da, Senior Trustee of Nankai University, Chairman of the Presidium of the Nankai Alumni Association in Shenzhen, Co-Chairman of the Entrepreneurs Association of the Nankai Alumni Association, and President of the Sociology Alumni Association, was elected as the Chairman of the Second Board of Supervisors.
In his speech, Yang Qingshan expressed that he felt deeply honored and responsible for his role, emphasizing that only through continued efforts could he live up to the trust placed in him. He looked forward to working closely with all council and supervisory board members, with the trust and support of global NKU alumni, to pool wisdom and efforts, fulfill their entrusted responsibilities, and continuously advance the work of the Nankai Alumni Association, jointly writing new chapters for the development of the Nankai family of schools.
