Nankai University Teams up with Huawei to Establish the “Intelligent Base” Industry-Academia Integration Collaborative Education Base 2.0

Nankai University (NKU) and Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. jointly inaugurated the “Intelligent Base” Industry-Academia Integration Collaborative Education Base and held the Technology Symposium on October 20. The event was attended by Yang Qingshan, Secretary of CPC Nankai University Committee; Zha Jun, Huawei Board Member and President of the 2012 Laboratories; Chen Jun, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and NKU Vice President; Fang Yongchun, NKU Vice President; Jiang Xiangzhong, Director of Huawei Beijing Research Center; and Fu Jie, Head of Huawei Technology Cooperation Department.

Yang Qingshan expressed gratitude to Huawei for its long-standing support on behalf of NKU. Reflecting on the history of collaboration between the two sides, he noted that the university’s founding motto “Dedication to Public Interests, Acquisition of All-Round Capability, and Aspiration for Progress with Each Passing Day” aligns closely with Huawei’s corporate ethos—both embodying strong patriotic commitment and relentless innovation. He envisioned that the newly established CHASPARK, an industry-academia collaboration, will serve as an innovative platform for intellectual exchange, scientific synergy, and spiritual inspiration. He expected the platform to foster interdisciplinary integration and unlock innovative potential. He called on both sides to deepen cooperation in talent cultivation and scientific research. He reaffirmed NKU’s readiness to leverage its strengths in fundamental sciences and emerging engineering disciplines and partner with Huawei to set a benchmark in educational-scientific integration and industry-academia collaboration, and contribute to China’s achievement of high-level technological self-reliance.

In his address, Zha Jun pointed out that Huawei currently faces both opportunities and challenges in fields such as HarmonyOS, artificial intelligence, and computing power platforms. He looked forward to deepening cooperation with NKU to achieve further breakthroughs in fundamental sciences and key core technologies, and to cultivate innovative talent for the intelligent era.

At the event, Li Yuelin, Assistant to the President and Director of the NKU Teaching Affairs Office, and Cao Xinfang, Head of the Intelligent Base Project in Huawei’s Technology Cooperation Department, jointly signed the cooperation agreement.

A group of distinguished NKU scholars and experts participated in the subsequent technology symposium, including Cheng Mingming, Executive Dean of the NKU College of Elite Engineers; Prof. Lu Ye from the College of Cryptology and Cyber Science; Associate Professor Sun Yongqian from the College of Software; and Guang Xuan, Vice Dean of the School of Mathematical Sciences. They delivered academic presentations on unified models, intelligent computing, multi-agent operations and maintenance, function computing, and other fields, and held in-depth exchanges with Huawei’s technical experts. 

During the event, the Huawei delegation toured the NKU History Exhibition.
